The Reds are reportedly in the market for a new midfielder, with Neves emerging among their targets.

Ruben Neves has admitted missing the Champions League amid reports linking him with a move to Liverpool.

Following a successful spell at Porto, Neves moved to Molineux in 2017. The Portugal international has developed into one of the most in-demand midfielders in the Premier League.

However, it seems he is keen to take the next step in his career as soon as this summer.

Speaking to The Times, he said: “One of the things I miss most is the Champions League, it’s the best competition in the world to play in. So let’s try to achieve that.”

He added: “If you ask me at the end of last season [about my future] I would have said to you, ‘I will leave’ but I’m still here, so we never know what’s going to happen.”

Jurgen Klopp has admitted his side are searching for a new midfielder after their slow start to the new season.

Liverpool’s injury-riddled squad has limited Klopp’s options as they struggle to find their rhythm in midfield. The Reds have also emerged as potential suitors for Frenkie de Jong amid competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.
