Reports of a potential move to Manchester City continue to grow for Cristiano Ronaldo, who seeks an exit from Juventus.

Wayne Rooney can’t see a ‘proud’ Manchester United legend like Cristiano Ronaldo join Manchester City.

Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus before the end of the transfer window deadline on August 31. Manchester City are interested and could reportedly offer him a two-year contract. According to Sky Sports, the Citizens could make an official offer within ‘the next 24 hours’.

But Rooney, who won three Premier League titles and a Champions League alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford, reckons his former teammate wouldn’t risk his United legacy by joining a rival club.

“I think Cristiano has got a very good legacy at Manchester United and I know how proud he is as a player and a person,” Rooney told talkSPORT.

“I can’t see [him joining City], but it’s football so you never know. There have been a few that have done it, but no one at Cristiano’s level. Obviously Peter Schmeichel and Andy Cole, but I just can’t see that as an option for him really.

“Financially, of course, he doesn’t need to do it. I think it’s more likely that it’s PSG he goes to.”

Ronaldo played for United between 2003 and 2009. He made 292 appearances at Old Trafford, managing 118 goals and 69 assists. Ironically, his last goal for the club was against City in a Premier League match in May 2009.
