There is no shortage of trophies in CR7’s cabinet, but a piece of silverware considered to be the pinnacle of the sport still eludes him.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s “main goal” is to win the World Cup, says Fernando Santos who doesn’t want the question marks over the superstar footballer’s club future to become a distraction at international level.

Ronaldo was included in Portugal’s 25-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The 36-year-old forward will team up with his national teammates later this month to go against Azerbaijan, Serbia, and Luxembourg.

The crucial fixtures, however, might have come at the wrong time for the Portugal captain as the uncertainty surrounds his club future could affect his performance.

He has been linked with a return to Real Madrid as well as to Manchester United while the MLS is being suggested as his potential next destination.

“[Cristiano] has a big dream, that one I know,” said the Portugal boss, via Goal.

“He has this big dream of participating in what we are setting out to do, that is the goal of playing in a World Cup and winning it.

“That is the main goal, the rest has to stay away from the national team.”
