Before making his second Manchester United debut, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a speech that left the staff and players in awe.

Cristiano Ronaldo addressed his new Manchester United teammates with a ‘stirring speech’ before making his second debut last weekend.

It’s been widely reported that Ronaldo gave a speech as part of his initiation last week. Red Devils goalkeeper Lee Grant confirmed it after CR7’s brace against Newcastle on Saturday, but he wouldn’t disclose exactly what was said.

“He [Ronaldo] got up, he was brilliant, obviously I am not going to disclose the contents of what he said, but it was interesting,” Grant told talkSPORT. “That was one of the points that he made about his nerves.

“He reiterated it post-match, so really interesting. But what I think that it does show, and something we are all aware as players, is that he really wants to be back here. He was incredibly excited at the opportunity to come back and play for the club, so that’s incredibly humbling for Manchester United fans and anyone connected to the club.

“He is this global megastar that is absolutely ecstatic to be back.”

What did Ronaldo tell the squad?

Like Grant, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the rest of the team have kept silent on this speech. The Sun newspaper, though, claims to know what Ronaldo said thanks to an inside source.

“I have returned to Man United for two reasons,” Ronaldo allegedly said.

“The first is because I love the club. The second is I love the winning mentality that breeds through the ranks of this club. I have not come back to be a cheerleader. If you guys want to succeed, then I need you to love this club from the bottom of your hearts.

“You need to eat, sleep and fight for this club. Whether you play or do not play, you need to support your teammates and always give 100 percent for the club.

“I am here to win and nothing else. Winning brings us happiness. I want to be happy, do you? You are all amazing players and I believe in you, or else I would have not returned.

“The fans will support you, if you give your best. I just want to create a winning mentality, so when I do retire one day, the winning mentality will remain, and this group of players will dominate football, like we did in the past.

“I will do my best for the team, but I need your support too. Are you ready to fight? Are you ready to leave everything on the pitch?”
