Cristiano Ronaldo will be forced to sit out Juventus’ crucial Barcelona match-up after failing his COVID-19 test, as per reports in Spain.

One of the most thrilling fixtures will play out early in the Champions League when two strong contenders in Juventus and FC Barcelona go head to head.

However, Juventus will be without the biggest ammunition in their arsenal when they take to the pitch at the Allianz Stadium for the Group G clash on Wednesday night.

It has been brought to notice by Portuguese publication Correio da Manha that Cristiano Ronaldo has failed his latest coronavirus screening, nine days after his first one.

A second positive result on the COVID-19 test means Ronaldo will be unavailable for a further while, and will hence be forced to remain out of action in next week’s game against Barca.

Juve, however, as the report mentions, are determined to include the competition’s record goalscorer in the crucial tie.

With the potency of their star man’s infection quite low, the Italian side are planning to make an appeal to UEFA to allow Ronaldo to take another test 48 hours before the game.

The 35-year old was initially identified as a carrier of the virus earlier this month while on international duty and subsequently sat out Portugal‘s Nations League clash against Sweden.
