After being rested in Manchester United’s EFL Cup loss to West Ham, Ronaldo has returned to starting XI to face Aston Villa for a Premier League match at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Manchester United line-up as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rings in the changes to face Aston Villa.
Ronaldo, who was rested in the 1-0 defeat to West Ham in the EFL Cup midweek, could become the first United player in the post-war era to score in his first four outings after joining the club.
Edinson Cavani, meanwhile, is fit again after missing six of the first seven games of the season. The 34-year-old is on the bench, while Ronaldo will start as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation again.
Predictably, Solskjaer has recalled Fred and Scott McTominay in the heart of the midfield. It means Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek return to the bench after starting against West Ham on Wednesday.
The usual defenders start also, with Solskjaer naming the exact same line-up from the 2-1 Premier League win over West Ham last weekend.
The clash in Manchester begins at 13:30 (CEST) on Saturday afternoon.
