In an interview on Monday, Wayne Rooney said his former teammate’s return to Old Trafford has not worked out.
Cristiano Ronaldo responded to Wayne Rooney’s criticism by commenting ‘Two jealous’ on a social media post.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday night, Rooney rated Ronaldo’s Manchester United as unsuccessful. He urged the club to focus on ‘younger, hungry players’ to turn things around instead.
The Derby County manager spent several seasons playing alongside Ronaldo during the Portuguese forward’s first spell at Old Trafford.

What did Rooney say?
Asked on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football if he felt Ronaldo’s return had been successful, Rooney answered: “You would have to say ‘no’ at the minute.
“He has scored goals, important goals in the Champions League early on, he scored a hat-trick against Tottenham, but if you’re looking to the future of the club you have to go with younger, hungry players to do the best to lift Man United over the next two or three years.
“Cristiano is getting on a bit. He isn’t the player he was in his twenties and that happens, that’s football. He’s a goal threat, but in the rest of the game they need more. They need young, hungry players.”
CR7’s response on social media
After Rooney shared a post on Instagram after appearing on Sky Sports, Ronaldo responded with the words: “Two jealous” accompanied by the eyes emoji.
