The Arsenal midfielder has given a definitive verdict on the GOAT debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Mesut Ozil rates Messi as one of La Liga’s greatest of all-time, but he favors Ronaldo as his GOAT pick for being ‘the best in every country he’s played in’.
Picking the greatest player of all time, aka ‘The GOAT’, or any top performer in a sport, can be a tough one. Many players, managers, and legends have all weighed in their mixed verdicts in the Ronaldo and Messi debate.
But in Ozil’s opinion, the answer is simple – CR7 is the clear No.1.
The German respects what Messi has accomplished in La Liga with Barcelona, but he believes Ronaldo’s success in different countries settles the debate.
Messi has proven himself to be one of the best ever in Spain, but Ronaldo was always the best in every country he’s played in! 😉 https://t.co/OfsWqNLedM

“Messi has proven himself to be one of the best ever in Spain, but Ronaldo was always the best in every country he’s played in!,” Ozil said in a Twitter Q&A when asked to choose between the duo.
Ozil has played at the highest level for almost 15 years. He’s witnessed the biggest talents in action up close, having partnered Ronaldo at Real Madrid and faced Messi as an opponent in La Liga, at the international level, and in the Champions League.
The 32-year-old also weighed in on another debate – his all-time Arsenal XI.
