The Man City midfielder says he would rather have CR7 as a teammate than Messi.

Kevin De Bruyne would prefer Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi as a teammate as the Portuguese ace is ‘more of a typical striker’.

Picking the greatest player of all time, aka ‘The GOAT’, or any top performer in a sport, can be a tough one. Many players, managers, and legends have all weighed in their mixed verdicts on the Ronaldo and Messi debate.

But if it came to picking which one to play with, De Bruyne would choose CR7 as he and Messi play in a similar role on the pitch.

“I would say probably Ronaldo, because he is more of a typical striker,” the Manchester City star told sports drinks brand wowhydrate on which star he would team up with.

“Messi is still more of a playmaker. So, you know, because I’m a playmaker you can give me a striker.”

Ronaldo and De Bruyne plan to return to action this Sunday for the final round of Premier League fixtures.

Ronaldo is preparing for Manchester United’s trip to Crystal Palace, while De Bruyne hopes to win a fourth league title by helping Manchester City beat Aston Villa.

Messi could also play this weekend on Saturday for Paris Saint-Germain’s final Ligue 1 game of the season at home to Metz.
