The former Man Utd captain has rated the Premier League’s three greatest players in history and the current top three for this season.

Roy Keane has named his former Manchester United teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney as two of the three best Premier League players of all time.

The Irishman’s third and final pick was Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who managed 175 goals and 80 assists in 258 league games en route to two league titles across two spells between 1999 and 2012.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, scored his 103rd Premier League goal in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Everton. The strike took to the three-time league winner’s overall club career tally to a record 700 goals.

While Rooney is the second-highest scorer in the English league’s history with 208 goals and 115 assists for United and Everton combined. He tasted league glory five times during his career.

“I’ve certainly gone for Ronaldo, but I was looking at players in the Premier League. I have gone for Ronaldo, Rooney, and Thierry Henry,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“They’re the three that I thought were brilliant players.”

Who are the best players this season?

Ronaldo, even at 37 years of age, still makes Keane’s list as one of the three best current players. Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland fill the other two spots.

“De Bruyne, Haaland, and Ronaldo,” added Keane. “De Bruyne, what he does week in, week out, his consistency is fantastic.

“You see what Haaland has done already, he’s new to the Premier League, and it is amazing what he can achieve over the next few years, particularly playing in a really good team like City and under Pep [Guardiola]. And you have to give Ronaldo credit for scoring 700 goals in his club career. It is amazing.”
