Edu Aguirre, a close friend of Cristiano Ronaldo’s, has made a shocking claim on the Juventus star’s future.

Carlo Ancelotti wants to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid before the summer transfer window closes, according to Edu Aguirre.

Aguirre made this revelation on the Spanish football show ‘El Chiringuito’ in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The show had teased a huge announcement on Ronaldo’s future in the build-up on social media.

In typical fashion, Aguirre played his cards close to his chest at the beginning. The reporter teased a ‘very important coach’ who wants to sign Cristiano to the show’s host, Josep Pedrerol, before finally spilling the beans.

“As we said, in the last few weeks, a very important coach has called Cristiano’s entourage,” said Aguirre on El Chiringuito. “The coach of a very important club wants to sign Cristiano. The coach who wants to sign Cristiano is Carlo Ancelotti.

“Carlo Ancelotti wants Cristiano at Real Madrid.”

“Carlo Ancelotti insists he wants Cristiano back at Real Madrid. He has spoken to his entourage. His relationship with Cristiano is marvelous, and he wants him back. The option is there.”

Aguirre, who was on holiday with Ronaldo this summer (see photo below), later claimed the Real Madrid squad would love to see his friend back. Ancelotti has apparently been in contact with the Portuguese and his representatives for a few weeks, and he is ‘obsessed’ with a reunion in Spain.

That said, Pedrerol countered Aguirre’s announcement by insisting Kylian Mbappe is Real Madrid’s priority, not Ronaldo.

Fabrizio Romano offers his verdict

Hours after Aguirre’s report, Fabrizio Romano took to Instagram to insist Juventus have received no offer for Ronaldo. The Bianconeri are ‘convinced’ he will stay in Turin.

The Italian journalist, who specializes in football transfers, claims Paris Saint-Germain is not an option for the 36-year-old either. The Parisians are focused on keeping Mbappe, who is out of contract next summer.

He added Ronaldo isn’t in contract talks with Juventus and that neither PSG nor Manchester City plan to sign him.

Florentino Perez wants Mbappe, not Ronaldo

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has made it no secret that he wants Mbappe. He even described a reunion with Ronaldo as ‘impossible’ and added that it ‘doesn’t make sense’.

“Cristiano won’t return to Madrid,” he told El Chiringuito in April. “It doesn’t make sense. I love him and he has given us a lot, but it doesn’t make sense now.”

But a lot has changed since Perez’s statement in April. Zinedine Zidane is no longer the manager, and Carlo Ancelotti is apparently pushing hard for a Ronaldo return. It appears everything hinges on what Mbappe will do next.
