Erik ten Hag has decided to punish Ronaldo for his reaction to a lack of game time against the Spurs.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly banned from participating in Manchester United’s training for the rest of the week.

The veteran forward remained an unused sub in United’s crucial win over Tottenham on Wednesday. He stormed down the tunnel before the game’s final whistle, not participating in United’s celebration post-match.

Amid widespread criticism from media personalities, Ronaldo returned to Man Utd’s training ground on Thursday morning.

However, the club announced a few hours later that he won’t be a part of the squad for their upcoming clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea,” an official club statement reads.

“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”

According to Miguel Delaney, Ten Hag has banned Ronaldo from United’s training for the rest of the week. The Independent journalist says there are already doubts that CR7 would ever play for the Red Devils again.

Reports from other English sources claim Man Utd are fully backing Ten Hag over his decision to punish Ronaldo.

The recent controversy will most likely bring Ronaldo closer to leaving Old Trafford. Following the last summer’s attempts to join a new club, the former Real Madrid superstar might push harder for a new transfer this January.
