The controversy caused by Ronaldo’s early exit against Tottenham seems to have cooled off.

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United’s team training ahead of their upcoming Europa League clash against Sheriff Tiraspol.

Erik ten Hag dropped Ronaldo from his squad for their 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Saturday. The decision was made after Ronaldo stormed off the pitch before the final whistle of his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham last week.

Ten Hag later confirmed Ronaldo had rejected to play as a late substitute. The 37-year-old spent a few days without participating in the first-team training, generating serious doubts about his future at Old Trafford.

However, on Sunday, he returned to United’s training as they prepare to face Sheriff in their next Europa League clash.

CR7’s return to training might indicate Ten Hag’s interest in returning him to his lineup for the upcoming game. But that won’t be enough to end speculations around Ronaldo’s next move.

The January transfer window could present the former Real Madrid star with the opportunity to find a new club. Having scored just twice this season, CR7 would need soild World Cup performances to find top-level suitors again.

Chelsea are reportedly eager to keep Ronaldo in the Premier League by making a winter move. But a transfer to MLS might also become appealing to Ronaldo if his game-time chances wouldn’t improve under Ten Hag.
