The Bavarians have made Araujo a priority target ahead of the January transfer window.
Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a winter move for Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo to bolster their defence line.
The departures of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard convinced the Bavarians to sign Kim Min-jae from Napoli in the summer. However, a new report from Bild claims that Thomas Tuchel is not satisfied with the South Korean’s start at the club.
The Bayern Munich manager is reportedly eager to give Araujo a central role in his defensive setup. The Uruguay international is said to have a release clause of around €80m, which could tempt Bayern to complete his transfer as soon as this January.
Araujo’s current deal at Barcelona expires in 2026. Reports from the Spanish media claim the club are looking to sign a new three-year deal with Araujo in the near future. However, interest from Bayern could convince the defender to take on a new challenge under Tuchel.
A move for Araujo will significantly improve Bayern’s squad depth in defence. In recent weeks, Matthijs de Ligt’s injury has forced Tuchel to use Leon Goretzka alongside Dayot Upamecano at the heart of Bayern’s defence line twice. Let’s see if the Bavarians will manage to prize away one of Barca’s key defenders for the second half of the campaign.
