From Arena Nationala, we bring you all the player ratings for this World Cup Qualifiers fixture between Romania and Germany.

After winning their first World Cup Qualifiers fixtures, both Romania and Germany looked confident enough to stifle each other in this match. The hosts showed determination as they won their first game against North Macedonia with a late stunner. On the flip side, the Germans exercised dominance over Iceland with a 3-0 satisfying victory to start the campaign.

Romania made four changes to the squad in search of another win. While Joachim Low kept his team the same which exhibited confidence. However the local team posed a great threat as they have won their last three out of four games scoring at least three goals in each. They made constant attempts in the first quarter before Germany took the lead with a brilliant piece of play.

Gnabry’s early goal just enough to grab the win

Despite late pressure put on by Romania, Germany managed to slip through to get the three points needed. Thanks to a combination of Kai Havertz and Serge Gnabry, the visitors were ahead in the 16th minute. The Chelsea youngster squared a ball to the Bayern Munich striker who had a simple job to make a tap in past Florin Nita. They should have added more goals when Joshua Kimmich hit the crossbar and Gnabry missed a one-on-on with the goalkeeper.

If you watched the game, it was clear that Nita saved Romania from conceding many goals. He made impressive saves to deny Timo Werner and Leroy Sane which could have added two more goals for Germany. Wasted opportunities from Nicolae Stanciu and substitute George Puscas denied the hosts with the equaliser they were looking for. Nevertheless, Germany now reach the top of Group J and Romania slip to the fourth position.
