Roma have overtaken Juventus in the race for wantaway Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, according to recent claims in Italy.

According to the Football Italia, Roma have listed Milik as their No 1 priority for the summer transfer window and have already surpassed Juventus in the race to his signature.

Led by the new ambitious chairman Dan Friedkin, the capital-based outfit will be looking to re-establish themselves among the Serie A top-four regulars next season.

The ‘Giallorossi’ endured a disappointing 2019/20 campaign, finishing fifth in the league, eight points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, and will, therefore, miss out on Champions League football next year.

However, Friedkin has big plans for Roma in the summer, and capturing Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik sits high on his list of priorities.

Well aware of Gennaro Gattuso’s interest in out-of-favor forward Cengiz Under, Paulo Fonseca’s side will try to use the Turkish star to facilitate the deal.

With Napoli asking for €50million to sanction Milik’s transfer, Roma are hoping to bring down the price by inserting the 23-year-old as a makeweight in the deal.

Moreover, they are confident Under’s involvement will give them an upper hand over Juventus, who are also rumored as potential suitors.

After cutting ties with Jose Callejon, the ‘Partenopei’ are left short of attacking options, and the left-footed Roma youngster is seen as an ideal solution to fill the void.
