Real Madrid bested Liverpool in the Champions League final last month to win a 14th European crown.
Rodrygo Goes has revealed how Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric rubbed salt into Mohamed Salah’s wounds after the final whistle of the Champions League final.
Salah headed into last month’s final in Paris hoping to get even with Real Madrid after an injury forced him off early in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to the Spanish giants in the 2018 final.
But the Egyptian forward had to settle for second best again this year, as Vinicius Junior’s 59th-minute settled a 1-0 win in Real Madrid’s favor – prompting a sly dig from Modric.
“When the game was over, the Real Madrid players made a corridor,” Rodrygo told Podpah.
“Liverpool were passing by, Salah was going through a little sad, head down. Modric looked at him and said: ‘Thank you, Salah, next time you try again’. I started laughing.”

Salah motivated Los Blancos
Rodrygo also disclosed how Salah’s revenge comments motivated Real Madrid for the final in Paris.
“When a guy provokes, sometimes you just want to win so you can make fun of them,” said the Brazilian winger.
“In training, we used to say ‘come Salah, come Salah’… in our head, it was already ‘we have to win to then make fun of Salah’.”
