Torino have signed Ricardo Rodriguez from AC Milan for €3 million, coinciding with the appointment of Marco Giampaolo’s arrival.

Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez did not have the best of times at the San Siro. Stefano Pioli did not see him as a first-team regular and sent him out on loan to PSV Eindhoven.

With the second half of 2019/20 season partially canceled off due to the coronavirus pandemic, he could only manage 6 Eredivisie outings.

Rodriguez returned to San Siro only to sort out his future. Torino expressed interest in his services and he decided to move on.

The Zurich born defender reunited will be reunited with former Rosonerri coach Marco Giampaolo in Turin. Rodriguez is pleased with his recent career development and hailed the confidence shown in his abilities.

“I am happy to be at Toro, I thank the director, President and coach for their faith in me, and I want to do well,” Football Italia quoted Rodriguez.

“I enjoy playing in Italy and I chose Torino because they worked really hard to get me. Giampaolo knows me well, he is well aware of what I can give to the team. I would love to play every game, but I’m also here to help the younger players in the maturation process.”

Rodriquez expects Torino to play exciting football under Giampaolo and has great expectations from the squad in Serie A.

“He has done very well in his career, but above all he gets his teams to play really good football,” continued Rodriguez.

“If we can all stay fit, and indeed remain at the club, then this squad is very strong. I saw in the last season that Toro had some quality players, but in football things can go wrong and you don’t know why. It happened to me in Germany, too.”
