The Spain international has signed a three-year contract extension with the Premier League champions.
The lure of winning more trophies at Manchester City convinced Rodri to commit his future to the club.
The 26-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract extension with Pep Guardiola’s side until 2027 following an impressive third campaign at the Etihad Stadium in 2021/22.
Rodri capped the season off in style by scoring City’s second goal in the club’s dramatic 3-2 final day win over Aston Villa, which clinched the club a fourth Premier League title in five years.
Rodri reveals his hunger for more success
The former Atletico Madrid man has now opened up about his Citizens career and revealed his hopes for the future.
“Joining City in 2019 is the best decision I have made in my career,” Rodri told the club’s media.
“I have loved every second. The fans have been amazing with me, I feel totally supported by the club and the manager pushes me every single day.
“I have improved so much as a player, and I want to thank Pep [Guardiola] and all the backroom staff for their help. They are completely committed to helping me become the best player I can be, and I appreciate their hard work.
“We have been very successful since I came here, which is something that makes me very proud. But to be honest, that success has made me even more hungry for me. Once you start winning big titles, you don’t want to stop.
“City, I feel, offers me the best chance of winning trophies and that’s why I am so pleased to be staying here for longer.”
Since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, Rodri has made 151 appearances for the club. He has managed 13 goals and nine assists.
The Madrid-native has helped City win two Premier League titles, two EFL Cups, one Community Shield, and reach the Champions League final.
