The Reds suffered a second successive league defeat at Anfield while also stretched their scoreless run at home to 348 minutes.

Liverpool are still a “good team” after the defeat to Brighton but are no longer in the Premier League title race, says Andy Robertson.

Two weeks ago, Burnley became the first team to beat Liverpool in their own backyard since Crystal Palace in April 2017.

Ever since their 68-game unbeaten run came to an end, the Reds have not been the same at Anfield. They are winless in their last two home league games while have been unable to find the net in the previous three.

Liverpool are set to play Manchester City up next. The two sides held the top two spots in each of their meetings in the past two seasons but things are very different this time.

Jurgen Klopp’s men sit at fourth while Pep Guardiola’s team firmly hold the top spot.

“Any game against Man City is a big one,” Robertson said after the 1-0 defeat to Brighton speaking to the BBC

“As this moment stands, we’re not in the title race. We are seven points behind them and they have a game in hand. I’m sure they’d say the same if they were potentially 10 points behind.

“We need to get back to the Liverpool everyone knows. We’re still a good team. We don’t turn into a bad team overnight.”
