Andy Robertson gave his verdict about his Liverpool teammate and captain Jordan Henderson for his defensive duties.

Andy Robertson feels that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has supported the team while playing as a centre-back.

The Reds are constantly seeking for options for the defensive unit as their on-going injury crisis worsened. Hence, Jurgen Klopp has been busy making alterations in the back trying out different combinations.

In the meantime, Henderson is partnering up with several defenders and has been a prominent figure at the Liverpool backline. It totally makes sense for the captain to support his team from the back, considering the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip.

And Robertson admits that the 30-year-old skipper has been on top of his game on and off the field. He also believes that Henderson is keen to get back to his original role in the midfield.

“Obviously the closer he is to you, the louder he gets. But that’s the way Hendo leads,” Robertson told the club’s official website. “He leads by example, being vocal and he’s really good at reading the game.”

“He can probably see a bit more at centre-back in the game and that’s why he’s probably louder and he can see things and try to help us all through the game. Playing out of position, we all need to try to help him as well, which we’ve tried to do. He’s done an incredible job.”

“Of course, I’m sure he would much prefer being further up the pitch and that time will come. But when you do have a crisis in a position and there is a shortage of centre-backs, then there’s no other man you’d want to look to than your captain – especially Hendo, the way he conducts himself.”

“Like I said, I’m sure he’ll be desperate to get back in midfield and whenever that may be. But for now, he’s doing a fantastic job at centre-back and long may that continue until hopefully we get all our centre-backs back and get a bit more familiarity back there.”
