Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has backed Eden Hazard to get back to his best displays after what was a tough year for the Real Madrid star.

It’s been a tough past year for Eden Hazard.

Ever since his big money move to Real Madrid, the Belgian forward has failed to hit consistency of any sort.

Multiple injuries have plagued Hazard coupled with the disruption of football by the coronavirus break.

With only one goal and seven assists in all competitions last term, the 29-year-old himself admitted he had a bad season by his own standards.

This season, it’s not been any better for Hazard. Injuries once again mean he has seen only 60 minutes of La Liga action.

On the international front, he was forced to miss his country’s three games against Switzerland, England and Denmark in this international break after testing positive for coronavirus.

Things are not looking the best for Hazard at the moment but Belgium boss Martinez believes the Real Madrid man can rediscover his best form in 2021.

“I just can see it, I think 2021 is going to be a wonderful year for Eden Hazard and for all the Red Devils fans,” Martinez said as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He is in good spirits and is looking forward to getting back as quick as he can to play football again. I have got no doubt that in 2021 we are going to see the best version of Eden Hazard.”

Speaking ahead of his side’s fixture against Denmark, Martinez added that they will go into the game with a calm approach.

“I think the approach is the same, the approach is to try to be as good as we can and perform the game to try to win it.”

“Obviously at the end of the game the result will tell us where we are.”
