The Polish striker scored twice in the 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Robert Lewandowski dedicated his first two goals for Barcelona to his late father, Krzysztof Lewandowski, who passed away from a stroke in 2005 shortly after an operation.

On the day of his 34th birthday, Lewandowski opened his Barca account by scoring the club’s first and third goals during a 4-1 win at Real Sociedad. He also supplied a superb assist for Ansu Fati’s goal in the second half.

“I’m very proud of my goals. I dedicate them to my father,” Lewandowski told reporters after the match.

“I feel very good, and I’m very proud. In the second half, we moved forward, played faster, and created spaces.”

He added: “Sometimes it takes a few weeks for it to work. The season is very long. You have to stay calm and stay focused on work.

“It’s just a question of time until we understand each other better and I think we are getting there. It’s a great team with young players and others who have more experience and we try to give advice.”

Lewandowski could return to action on Wednesday to face his former Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in a friendly.
