The Poland international worked under Ancelotti during the manager’s short spell at Bayern Munich.

Robert Lewandowski has admitted Carlo Ancelotti’s effect on his development ahead of Barcelona’s crunch clash against Real Madrid.

Ancelotti’s men hope to keep their La Liga hopes alive by beating Barcelona at Camp Nou. The Catalans have placed themselves in pole position to claim the league title, moving nine points above them on the table.

Speaking ahead of the Clasico, Lewandowski paid tribute to the Real Madrid boss.

“Ancelotti gave me incredible self-confidence,” the former Bayern star said.

“He gave me something I didn’t have before. For him, the most important thing is to be a good guy, not to talk about tactics. He’s a man to learn from.”

Ancelotti joined Bayern after ending his first spell at Real Madrid in 2015. The Italian manager ended his two-year stint at Allianz Arena with a Bundesliga trophy and two German Super Cup titles.

Lewandowski was absent when Barca defeated Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie earlier this month. However, he is fit to play for the Catalans when they host Ancelotti’s side on Sunday.

The Polish star is La Liga’s top-scorer this season, registering 15 goals in his 21 appearances for Barcelona.
