The Citizens are determined to defend their Premier League crown next season.

Manchester City will ‘go 100 per cent’ to retain their Premier League title after winning it last season.

The Citizens snatched their fourth English top-flight title in five years by beating Liverpool in a tense title race. Since then, the Citizens have went on to further strengthen their squad this summer.

Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega, and Julian Alvarez have joined Pep Guardiola’s squad as they go into another Premier League campaign as the number one favourites.

“We really, really want to win again,” Mahrez told Daily Mail when asked about City’s motivation to win another Premier League title.

“When the season starts, we want to go again. That’s the big motivation. We never ever think, ‘Oh, it’s going to be easy this year,’ or we can go a bit easy.

“No, we go 100 per cent from the beginning, because we want to win and we are built with this mentality.

“On the last day, against Aston Villa, I was just thinking, f****** hell, what are we doing here? We’re playing at home and we’re losing 2-0 against Villa. Sometimes you don’t feel good in a game, I didn’t that day, and some other people came in and helped us to win – that’s what our team is about.”

Haaland scored City’s only goal as they defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in their pre-season friendly on Saturday. The Citizens will now prepare to face Liverpool in the Community Shield match on Saturday.
