Antoine Griezmann’s struggles to perform at his best for Barcelona have been well documented, but Rivaldo believes it will be old news soon.

15 goals, four assists, and zero trophies are what Griezmann has to show in 52 appearances for Barcelona since his €120m arrival from Atletico Madrid last year.

The World Cup winner is yet to open his account for this season either, having drawn a blank in all the club’s four league games.

Another woeful performance in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away to Getafe led to further doubts. Especially as he squandered a one-on-one chance. So while Ronald Koeman’s faith remains unwavering for now, the Barcelona boss may be forced to act if things fail to improve.

Furthermore, Koeman has retaliated plans to continue deploying Griezmann as a right-winger despite the Frenchman’s protests.

“Antoine Griezmann is an excellent player who is just lacking confidence at the moment,” Ex-Barca star Rivaldo argued on Betfair.

“I believe he’s good enough to play for Barcelona and I don’t think he’s playing in the wrong position.

“For France, he’s been playing for the same coach and in the same system for years. At Atleti, where he was the star player for several seasons, he was used to the club and the coach.

“Griezmann only needs time at Barcelona and then he can produce his best football again.”
