The Dutchman has made a good impression at his new club after sealing a loan move from Manchester United.

Donny van de Beek has lifted standards on the Everton training ground already, according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

The 24-year-old midfielder swapped life at Old Trafford for Goodison Park in January after struggling to get his big break in the United line-up, first under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then Ralf Rangnick.

He has since made two appearances for Everton, impressing in his first start for the club in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Leeds.

“I’ve been speaking to a few people at the club and they’ve said that he’s gone in there and lifted the levels, training-wise,” Ferdinand said on Vibe with FIVE.

“[He’s a] great lad, first and foremost, but you can see. A lot of them are going, ‘Wow, he’s this good, they must be unbelievable at Manchester United if he can’t get in’.”

Everton manager Frank Lampard has also praised Van de Beek’s impact, singling him out for his intelligence and work ethic.

The Toffees hope their new signing can keep his strong form alive in Saturday’s trip to Southampton in the Premier League.
