Ahead of the delayed Euro 2020 competition, Declan Rice has made an unusual vow if his country England wins the silverware.

Declan Rice has made an unusual promise if England wins the forthcoming Euro 2020 tournament. He said that he will drink his first-ever beer if his nation manages to lift this major silverware.

The West Ham star revealed that he never smelled the most common alcoholic beverage in the UK. However, now if the Three Lions bring the trophy home, he might make an exception to break his own rules.

The 22-year-old Rice has transformed into one of the most essential players for Gareth Southgate’s side. And we will witness his duties this coming Sunday as the Three Lions take on Croatia at Wembley Stadium.

Rice told the reporters: “Do you know what, until this day I have never had a beer and I am 22! That is the truth. Never had a pint. Don’t drink it.”

“Not really [a drinker]. But a pint? No. I know it is off topic but I have never had a beer. People get surprised. I just don’t like the smell of it so I have never gone near it.”

When asked if he will give it a try if England wins the Euros, he said: “Yes. I will give it a try – but I will probably spit it out!”

The defensive-midfielder also wants Prime Minister Boris Johnson to lift COVID-19 protocols so that fans could enjoy football again. “If Boris lifts the lockdown and the games are in full flow on the 21 st, the nation will be buzzing, all the songs will be flying at the pubs and obviously we’ll be playing.”

“We’ll all definitely feel the positive effects on the nation.”
