A long-drawn transfer saga came to an end earlier this summer after the ex-Man City man finally completed his return to the Premier League.

Giovanni Reyna has revealed Jadon Sancho requested him to take his Borussia Dortmund No. 7 shirt before moving to Manchester United.

Sancho donned the No.7 shirt for the majority of his Borussia Dortmund career after joining the club in the summer of 2017.

The England international build a reputation of being one of the most exciting talents in all of Europe during his stay at the Signal Iduna Park, notching up an impressive 38 goals and 51 assists in 104 senior appearances for BVB.

Reyna, who joined the Bundesliga outfit’s youth academy in 2019 before quickly earning a first-team promotion, is another gem in the Dortmund squad who, despite his raw age, is fast developing into a player the team can rely on.

The USMNT star told Kicker of Sancho: “He talked to me about it from time to time last season. He said that if he should leave the club, I should wear his number.

“I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for me since we’ve known each other.

“He told me that from day one I can talk to him at any time if I have a problem. And he also helped me on the field by teaching me to believe in myself, to be self-confident and to express that.

“No matter how young I am, you can be a good player if you believe in yourself. He set an example for me.”
