The Red Devils intend to keep their options open until the transfer deadline.

Manchester United are eyeing a move for former Barcelona star Jean-Clair Todibo to replace Harry Maguire.

Earlier this summer, Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag striped Maguire of his side’s captaincy. Maguire’s playing time last season has reportedly convinced him to look for a new club, with United already planning on his replacement.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Todibo is United’s priority target if they sell Maguire this summer. Since leaving Barcelona in 2021, the Frenchman has established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising centre-backs.

Last season, Todibo made 46 appearances for Nice, who finished ninth in Ligue 1 and reached the Conference League quarter-finals. The 23-year-old is set to start as a backup for United’s centre-back pair, but the club are yet to allow Maguire’s exit.

The England international was booed by Man Utd fans during the team’s 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. A defensive mistake once again saw Maguire come under criticism as he edges closer toward a move away from Old Trafford.

Last week, United rejected a £20m offer from West Ham for Maguire. According to ESPN, the Hammers have already improved their bid for the 30-year-old, waiting for United’s final decision.
