The Argentine superstar is spending the final months of his current deal at PSG.

Barcelona are the most likely destination for Lionel Messi ahead of the next summer, according to the English bookmakers.

Messi signed a two-year contract at Paris Saint-German after his Barcelona departure in 2021. The World Cup winner is just a few months from running down his current deal, with no signs of a renewal being imminent.

Several clubs have shown interest in signing Messi as a free agent next summer.

Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal have reportedly made an astronomical offer to make him the highest-paid player in the World while there’s concrete interest from Major League Soccer.

However, it seems a return to Barcelona is still the number one possibility regarding Messi’s future.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the English bookmakers expect the Catalans to return Messi to Camp Nou next summer. The bookies have allocated a 40% chance to Barcelona, while Al Hilal and Inter Miami have only 11% each.

The English bookmakers also believe there’s a 9% chance that Messi will return to his childhood club, Newell’s Old Boys, at the end of the current season.

PSG have already started their negotiations to keep Messi at Parc des Princes for another season. However, PSG fans’ continues booing of the World Cup winner in recent weeks have cast serious doubt over his future at the club.
