Viktor Gyökeres has attracted interest from a number of elite sides with his performances under Ruben Amorim.

Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea, reportedly has a €100 million release clause in his contract.

The 25-year-old striker, who joined Sporting from Coventry for £18.5 million, has been in impressive form, scoring 17 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions in his debut season in a top-flight European league.

Sporting’s manager, Ruben Amorim, has confirmed that both Chelsea and Arsenal are keen on signing the Swedish star.

“I think he’s improved the team, the fans like him a lot. We have to look at the other side: today there’s talk that Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in him,” the Sporting CP manager said.

“He was in England, right next to them, in the Championship. Sporting have improved Gyokeres and Gyokeres has improved Sporting, he’s brought a new energy.

“[Interest from other clubs] It affects all players, I can feel it sometimes in [Goncalo] Inacio, I can feel it in other players and Viktor is no exception.”

Gyökeres’ style of play and his versatility have drawn comparisons to Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane. As the speculation continues about Gyökeres’ next move, Sporting CP are seemingly firm on their valuation of the striker. The recent transfer races between Chelsea and Arsenal suggest that one club will eventually meet the eight-figure demand for Gyökeres.
