Arsenal have been in pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic for a while now, but a specific demand from the player might become an obstacle.
Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic has a certain demand that needs to be met if Arsenal wish to bring him to Emirates Stadium this January.
According to Serie A journalist James Horncastle, the 21-year-old prolific striker wants to play football at the highest level. Yes, reports suggest that Vlahovic desires Champions League action with whichever team he signs for.
Unfortunately for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, they have not seen the European competition since 2017. The Gunners are currently on the fourth position in the Premier League table, but there is no guarantee that it stays the same at the end of the season.
In fact, Arsenal could easily sign Vlahovic in terms of his financial demands. The representatives of the forward are asking for £15 million in fees and £300,000-a-week of wages.
Horncastle spoke about the Serbian striker during BBC Radio 5 Live’s Euro Leagues podcast. He said: “Arsenal have spoken 30 times with Fiorentina about Vlahovic. They know the price and they know what would make an acceptable framework to get it done.”
“But the reality is he wants to be in the Champions League. He’s an exceptional talent and has been so consistent.
“The reality for clubs that want him is they have to make a very compelling pitch to show they are on the up. Heading into the Champions League and contending for silverware.”
Of course, Arteta’s side will look for a spot in the top four this season in order to qualify for the Champions League. But, we will have to wait and watch whether Vlahovic moves to England.
