After knowing about his ankle injury, we can now get a proper update on Lionel Messi’s issue and when he can probably return to activity.

After last Tuesday’s disappointing result against Eibar, Lionel Messi was spotted disapproving of the squad’s performance at Camp Nou. We just received news of Leo having a minor ankle injury, which is why he got permission to travel to Argentina during the holidays. Even though we thought he might stay there until after New Year’s, the Barcelona captain decided to return early.

He witnessed the squad’s dismal performance against Eibar and he had plans to return to training on the very next day. On Wednesday, Leo was spotted going into Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva in order to speed up his recovery. After another draw, Messi now knows he is the only man who can help the squad fight for titles.

Barcelona’s specific plan with Leo Messi.

Given that Leo’s ankle problem is not that serious, the Blaugrana already have a specific plan for Messi’s speedy recovery. The idea is to hit the gym today and tomorrow before trying to get on the pitch to touch the ball. If everything goes right, Ronald Koeman will give the player a chance to try himself out in practice with his teammates. This is scheduled for January the 1st.

After that, the idea is to have Messi ready for next Sunday to face Huesca in the Spanish La Liga. Hopefully, the captain can get the ideal sensation on his ankle and he can return to full swing as soon as possible. Barcelona sure proved they need their best player on the pitch if they want to recover from the recent results.
