According to reports, Tottenham have agreed a deal worth around £15m to sign Wolves right back Matt Doherty.
Doherty marks a part of Jose Mourinho’s summer plans as he hopes to bring in reinforcements to his backline.
Spurs contacted Wolves as early as weeks ago over a transfer but initial talks progressed slowly.
Talks accelerated on Friday with Doherty eager to link up with Jose Mourinho.
The defender’s arrival will reportedly open the door for Serge Aurier to leave Spurs. However, no official bid has come in for the latter.
Doherty was a regular for Wolves last season, making 50 appearances across all competitions. The versatile Irishman can feature in at right-back and can also be deployed further upfront.
Sky Sports report that both Spurs and Wolves have agreed a fee in the region of £15m.
A medical could be completed over the weekend with an announcement to be made anytime henceforth.
To replace Doherty, Wolves already have Arsenal’s Maitland-Niles as an option. However, the Gunners knocked their first offer and requested for more cash for the 22-year-old.
For Spurs, the imminent signing is a logical one that makes sense. They already Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton, so were in need of stronger depth in that position.
