According to a report from Italy, Sergio Aguero already made a wage request to the three clubs that want to sign him after this season.
There are currently three clubs in Europe that can afford Sergio Aguero, the rest are outside of the asking price. Before today’s Gazzetta dello Sport’s report, ‘Kun’ was pursued by at least five major clubs in the continent. These institutions included Juventus, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham. But the front three clubs that can actually pay him are Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and PSG.
Perhaps Juventus would make an effort for him if they consider his age is not a serious impediment. The report from Italy suggests that Aguero’s agent just asked for a €12 million salary after tax, per season. If any club accepts this wage, they would be paying him a pre-pandemic salary. It’s not like he doesn’t deserve it, it’s just that asking for this kind of money right now might fall under scrutiny.
Why is Aguero asking for so much?
This is very simple: ‘Kun’ is going to his next club for free, no squad will have to pay a dime to sign him. For this reason alone, Aguero can get the luxury of asking for a major payday to any club of his choosing. As of right now, FC Barcelona appears like his most obvious destination. However, we still have to see the domino effect that other clubs create when they sell their respective stars.
Aguero will be part of the team that makes the effort to sign him, but we still don’t know for sure which club that is. The pole position has Barcelona at the top, with PSG and Juventus also fighting to sign him. In the end, the Argentine star might very well follow his heart and play alongside his friend: Leo Messi. Sitka around to find out where ‘Kun’ will play next.
