As we go through the strangest year in football history, Edinson Cavani has reportedly approached Real Madrid to offer his services.

Real Madrid is currently in dire need of a new striker to accompany Karim Benzema upfront and Edinson Cavani is definitely an option. The former PSG star is a free agent at the moment. His representation has been offering him to several clubs. Cavani has been on Atletico Madrid and Juventus’ radar but this is the first time Real Madrid is mentioned. Los Blancos are seriously considering their decision to buy Luka Jovic for €60 million.

They understand that the striker is having a hard time adapting to the club. They wouldn’t care about selling him. However, Zinedine Zidane keeps presenting himself as an obstacle for Los Blancos. The French manager has a predilection for footballers who speak his language and rejects the notion of academy players. In recent days, we’ve seen him close the door of players like James Rodriguez or Gareth Bale. He also believes veteran players won’t help his squad.

Florentino wants Zidane to reconsider.

The Real Madrid manager completely rejects the idea of signing Edinson Cavani this summer. But Florentino has other ideas with this new possibility, he is currently trying to convince ‘Zizou’ that signing the former PSG player is a good idea. The plan is to give Karim Benzema more resting time and have Cavani as a replacement who can guarantee many goals per-season.

Although Zidane is not keen on this new option, the chairman is confident things could drastically change in a matter of hours. It’s obvious that Cavani would go to Real Madrid on a free transfer and both sides only have to agree on a wage. Marca reported that this is the player Florentino wants as a striker but it remains an option. Out of all the possible options Real Madrid has, Cavani is certainly the most attractive one.
