According to a recent report from the most reliable source, Kylian Mbappe’s exit could trigger PSG’s option to go after Cristiano Ronaldo.

It appears that PSG already has plans to go after Cristiano Ronaldo if Kylian Mbappe ends up leaving the French giants. As we all know, the youngster is asking for a considerable salary increase that the club simply can’t offer him right now. They already have Neymar on that type of payroll and they can’t have two players earning that much money. PSG wants to secure a world-class player to arrive in case Mbappe leaves and Messi seems more difficult to get as the days go by.

This leaves Cristiano Ronaldo as a viable option, according to Le Parisien. Many of you may know already that this newspaper is basically owned by PSG, which is why their information is always reliable. With clubs like Inter Miami already trying to sign him for the near future, it’s also true that Ronaldo wants to keep trying to win the Champions League. PSG is one of the few clubs that can still give him that possibility.

What needs to happen for this to take place?

In order to make this happen for Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid first needs to make a serious offer that PSG will have a hard time ignoring. Before the pandemic, they wouldn’t have accepted less than €250 million for one of their best players. However, they understand the situation and would possibly sell him for the same price they paid in 2017: €180 million.

Mbappe might be worth more than that but PSG also needs to think about keeping a good relationship with Los Blancos for the future. Cristiano Ronaldo would get there for free and his salary expectations would be easy to cover. We are talking about one of the best footballers in the world and one of the best in history after all. Cristiano Ronaldo going to the French Ligue 1 would be fantastic news not only for French football, but also for Europe in general.
