According to a report coming from Paris, Mauricio Pochettino has a very specific transfer plan he will start as soon as he arrives to coach PSG.

Mauricio Pochettino is just hours away from becoming Thomas Tuchel’s replacement at PSG. The Argentine manager has been negotiating with the French club over the last couple of days and an official agreement will come soon. Having settled who will be the club’s new manager, we can also expect him to make his own revolution. As we all know, Lionel Messi’s future is very much in the air right now.

Starting in January 2021, Leo will be free to negotiate with any club of his choosing and PSG is one of those clubs. Only a handful of clubs can pay Messi’s wages and Nasser Al-Khelaifi is aware of this. Pochettino’s plan involves convincing Leo to become a PSG player by next summer. But making this happen won’t be easy for the former Tottenham manager.

How can Pochettino convince Messi?

According to Le Parisien, Mauricio Pochettino will attempt to speak directly with Messi at the start of 2021. He’s always been very vocal about his desire to coach Leo but his ties to Espanyol have prevented him from coaching FC Barcelona. Now there’s an opportunity to make this partnership happen if PSG convince Messi to play for them. One of Pochettino’s ace under the sleeve is the fact that Neymar and Mbappe are still on the squad. Messi wants to play only with the best and making an attacking trio with those two is an exciting opportunity.

If Pochettino approaches Messi to talk, he will use Neymar’s presence as leverage in order to convince him. As we all know, Neymar recently said he wants to play alongside Messi next season. Pochettino will bank on that to make it happen. Next Sunday’s interview with Jordi Evole in La Sexta will be instrumental for Leo Messi’s future. We’ll keep you posted on what happens and Pochettino will be watching as well.
