Having parted company with a key central midfielder, the Reds are said to be in the market for a player of similar profile.

Leicester City star Youri Tielemans “really wants” to join Liverpool this summer, as per Belgian outlet Voetbal24.

There is a “good chance”, according to the report, for Tielemans’s transfer to Liverpool from Leicester to be completed quickly, with the player having communicated his desire for the move to both the clubs.

The Reds are ready to offer the Foxes up to €75 million for the 24-year-old, the reports further adds, and that the former are prepared to “do everything in its power” to sign him.

Liverpool lost Georginio Wijnaldum last month, with the Netherlands international signing for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after running down his contract.

Wijnaldum’s departure leaves a sizable hole in Jurgen Klopp’s squad as the player had been central to the team’s domestic and continental success in recent years.

The Reds, therefore, are reportedly in search of a new central midfielder ahead of 2021-22. Lille’s Renato Sanches, Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini, Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, along with Tielemans, are some of the names linked with a move to Anfield.

Tielemans, who has been playing in the Premier League for three years now and is considered to be one of the best at his position in the league, is understood to be Klopp’spreferred option.
