According to a report, Chelsea are well in the running to sign a highly-rated Ajax starlet in Ryan Gravenberch.

Chelsea are reportedly gearing up for a busy summer window, similar to last summer. The rumor mills are already ringing in and the Blues could turn to Ajax once again.

Last summer, Chelsea signed Ziyech from Ajax and it hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far.

That player in Hakim Ziyech is still there, but the Morocco international hasn’t managed to break through at Stamford Bridge under either Frank Lampard or Thomas Tuchel.

There have been calls for him to be moved on since the German manager cannot seem to work him into his plans. However, that doesn’t mean Chelsea won’t be returning to Ajax in the near future.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are names as one of three Premier League clubs allegedly ‘pursuing’ Ryan Gravenberch.

The 18-year-old needs little to no introduction at this point as he’s one of the key players for the Dutch club despite his young age, and already has three Netherlands caps to his name.

Perhaps wanting a bit more depth in midfield, Chelsea appear to have targeted Gravenberch, although he would be costly.

The report says Ajax value him at around €35m but it could be a different story at the end of the day.

As we’ve recently seen with Ajax, they will likely want more than that for one of their bigger talents to come through in recent years especially when they have him under contract until 2023.

Gravenberch can play in multiple positions across midfield and the report concludes that Chelsea would attempt to use their ‘cordial’ relationship with Ajax to see of a move.
