In a new turn of events, Josep Maria Bartomeu decided to completely block Luis Suarez’s transfer to Atletico Madrid. We have the details.

Luis Suarez believed he was about to make one of the most unexpected transfers of the summer to Atletico Madrid. The Barcelona supporters couldn’t believe the Deja Vu feeling they had all over again. It was getting to become laughable. The South American striker is in a nasty fight against the board of directors and he wanted to give them one last stockade. His plan was to play for a new club within the same league and compete against Barcelona this season.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid had it all planned out for Suarez’s arrival to the Colchoneros. In fact, they already sold Alvaro Morata to Juventus thinking they would land Luis Suarez after long negotiations. But the Barcelona president saw reason right on time. Josep Maria Bartomeu is reportedly refusing to send the striker to Madrid.

Barcelona doesn’t want another Villa case.

Back in 2013, David Villa decided to leave Barcelona after years of success. The Spanish striker had a fruitful career playing next to Messi and Pedro in the squad. By the time he believed it was time for him to leave, he made the decision to play for Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros got him for almost no money and they didn’t expect much from him. Barcelona’s board didn’t value him as they should’ve and they paid the price.

On the very next season, Villa eliminated Barça in the Champions League and won the Spanish La Liga under Diego Simeone. This is exactly what Bartomeu is trying to avoid by blocking Luis Suarez’s transfer to Atletico Madrid. We can’t say that we blame him but this opens a new battlefront between him and the striker. Diario AS was the first outlet to report the situation and we’ll keep you posted on everything that happens.
