Report: Barcelona star is close to a shock Man United transfer

According to different sources in Spain and England, Man United would be close to signing one of Barcelona’s most expensive players.

FC Barcelona is trying to get Man United to accept a deal for one of their most expensive players. They were just told by Lyon that they have until Friday to sign Memphis Depay or they will miss out on him coming to the club. In order to get a chance to sign the Dutchman, they have to sell some of their players first.

Diario AS just reported that the Catalan club is in talks with Manchester United to possibly sign Ousmane Dembele for €60 million. The French player hasn’t entertained the idea of leaving the Blaugranas but the Red Devils apparently want him to play with them next season. However, this transfer won’t be easy because the English club doesn’t trust the player’s injury record.

There are other reports that suggest a loan deal is more possible for Dembele. Manchester United is looking at this option as a better alternative after Borussia Dortmund rejected a new offer for Jadon Sancho. Solskjaer’s squad will try to get Dembele as Jadon’s possible replacement but they don’t want to buy him on a permanent transfer.

Dembele lost over half of his market value.

When he first arrived at FC Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele was worth €145 million. The French winger was arguably the best alternative possible to replace Neymar at the Catalan club. Although his price was too steep for a player with everything to prove, Barcelona had no choice but to sign him.

All the other clubs in Europe knew they had the €222 million they received for Neymar. It’s been proven that Ousmane Dembele’s arrival to Catalonia was a terrible mistake for various reasons. The injuries are what made him lose more market value over the years.

Despite still being considered one of the fastest players in the world, few clubs want to take that risk. Manchester United will still try to sign Sancho but they are willing to take a look at this Dembele option if Barcelona accepts a loan. It appears Ousmane’s story with Barcelona could be coming to an end.
