According to a reliable source, FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with a Premier League defender they’ve been chasing for a while.

FC Barcelona seems to have finally reached an agreement with a Premier League defender they’ve been chasing since last season. We are talking about one of Manchester City’s young players: Eric Garcia. To those who don’t recall, the center-half was already in line to make the trip to Catalonia but the Blaugranas weren’t able to reach an agreement with the Citizens.

They vowed to come back to sign him during the winter transfer window and that’s exactly what they are doing. A reliable source just confirmed there is an agreement set for the young star to arrive during the summer transfer window. However, the Catalan club could opt to sign him right now if they negotiate with Manchester City. With no money in the bank, this second option is more difficult at the moment.

Garcia would arrive as a free agent.

Given that his contract will end soon at Manchester City, Eric is expected to arrive at FC Barcelona as a free agent. Fabrizio Romano reported earlier today that the transfer is 100% taking place by next summer. This gives the Catalan club a much-needed player in that position after Gerard Pique’s unfortunate knee injury this season. Garcia is actually an FC Barcelona product who was recruited by Manchester City as a teenager.

He was born in Catalonia and he is hoping to return to the club of his life as soon as possible. In retrospect, his career has been strikingly similar to Gerard Pique. They both started their careers in the Premier League for a Manchester-based club. The two of them play the same position and they are in love with the Catalan club. Eric Garcia is finally going back home.
