Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez could be on his way out of the club. He has reportedly agreed personal terms with Aston Villa.
Arsenal might have no choice but to let Martinez leave the club this summer.
The Argentint has been excellent for the Gunners since stepping into the team for the injured Bernd Leno. However, his form presents Mikel Arteta with a selection headache.
Arteta faces a tough decision over who to choose between Martinez and Leno as his first-choice option.
Recent reports claim Arteta could stick with Leno and that will lead to his colleague’s exit.
Martinez has just two years left on his deal at the Emirates. On several occasions, he has made it clear that to commit his future to the club, he wants to be No 1 over Leno.
That is likely not happening and he could now be on his way to Aston Villa.
According to the Independent, Martinez will join Aston Villa in a package worth around £20 million.
Villa initially saw a £15m offer rejected and are expected to submit a better offer to Arsenal in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Martinez has already agreed personal terms ahead of his proposed exit.
With Tom Heaton out injured until October, the Argentine can fancy his chances of first team football at Villa Park.
Martinez will leave Arsenal after a decade at the club having joined as a teenager in 2010.
