Real Madrid can breathe a huge sigh of relief after Marco Asensio escaped a long-term injury after suffering a knock.

Asensio took yet another knock to his left knee while on international duty with Spain.

The 24-year-old left the La Furia Roja camp last week after complaining about problems in his knee.

It was a huge concern at the time as Asensio missed a good part of last season due to problems from the same knee.

On Monday, the forward took MRI scans to know he extent of the injury and it appears it was not all that serious as feared.

As per Marca, the results from the MRI scan showed there was no recurrence of the knee injury.

It appears to be just a slight swelling and nothing major to be bothered about.

It is good news for Real Madrid as Asensio would now spend a few days at the gym before returning for club duty.

Fitness coach Gregory Dupont will drill the 24-year-old specially in a bid to get the forward to full fitness soon enough.

Asensio might not recover in time to feature for Real Madrid on their La Liga opener against Real Sociedad on Septemebr 20. However, he could be on track to be in full contention by early October.
