The Blancos midfielder suffered a hip injury while on international duty with Croatia.

Real Madrid reportedly expect Luka Modric to recover in ten days after his hip injury.

Modric started both of Croatia’s Nations League matches against Denmark and Austria, playing a crucial role in their qualification to the tournament’s final phase.

However, upon returning to Madrid, the Blancos confirmed their star midfielder had suffered an overload in the hip.

According to 90min, the injury will keep Modric out of action for ‘up to ten days’. The midfielder will reportedly miss out on his side’s upcoming matches against Osasuna, Getafe, and Shakhtar Donetsk.

However, the Blancos will most likely have Modric back in their squad for their second-leg clash against Shakhtar. That means Modric would be fully fit for the much-anticipated El Clasico on October 16.

Losing Modric will be a big blow to Real Madrid’s hopes of maintaining their perfect start to the new season.

The Blancos have won all of their games across different competitions so far this season, despite suffering a few injury setbacks.

Karim Benzema, who missed Real Madrid’s last three games before the international break, has confirmed he’ll return to action this weekend.

“I’m feeling very good, comfortable. I’m looking forward to the game on Sunday,” Benzema said.

“I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work. I’ve not touched the ball but I trained for the first time today. and done a lot of running and strength training over the past few days.”
