The Blancos striker has sustained a hamstring injury ahead of the crucial game.

Real Madrid might have Karim Benzema back in their squad before their upcoming derby against Atletico Madrid.

Benzema limped off the pitch only 26 minutes into his side’s 3-0 win over Celtic on Tuesday.

Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s positive update after the game, further tests showed Benzema’s injury might be more serious.

A few sources have predicted the Frenchman will complete his recovery process in two weeks.

However, a new report from Diario AS claims he might return sooner than expected.

According to the Spanish outlet, Benzema will be back in 7-10 days, enabling Ancelotti to use him against Atletico Madrid.

The Blancos will face their city rivals on September 18th, hoping to maintain their brilliant league form at Wanda Metropolitano.

The injuries of Benzema and Paul Pogba also concern France, who are preparing for the upcoming 2022 World Cup.

The Bleus captain, Hugo Lloris, spoke about the pair after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Marseille on Wednesday.

“What worries me the most are the small physical glitches they are having,” the French keeper told reporters.

“We will need our best players in November and I hope they will all recover. I hope it’s not too serious for Karim.”

He added: “For Paul, we know that his chances are compromised.”
