The Turkish star suffered another muscle injury shortly after rejoining Real Madrid’s training.

Arda Guler is expected to stay out of action for three weeks after sustaining a muscle injury during training.

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in a close transfer race to sign Guler from Fenerbahce in July. However, a knee injury delayed the teenager’s debut for the Blancos.

Earlier this week, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Guler was ready to join Real Madrid’s squad for their mid-week match against Las Palmas. However, the midfielder suffered another muscle injury a day before the game.

statement from Real Madrid reads: “After the tests carried out on our player Arda Güler by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the left rectus femoris muscle. His progress will be monitored.”

The thigh injury will most likely keep Guler out of action for another three weeks. The Turkey international could make his debut against Sevilla on October 21.

The hype around Guler’s move to Santiago Bernabeu has already raised expectations from the former Fenerbahce star. However, the 18-year-old might struggle to secure a lineup spot in his debut season due to the intense competition in Real Madrid’s midfield.

The Blancos hope to bounce back from their underwhelming display in the Madrid derby when they host Las Palmas on Wednesday. Ancelotti’s men will then take on Girona three days later.
