A seven-goal thriller plays out in the first match at Santiago Bernabeu after one year as Los Blancos celebrate homecoming with a convincing victory.

Although shaky at the back, Real Madrid more than made up for their defensive flaws by being lethal up front as they thumped Celta Vigo 5-2 in the La Liga encounter on Sunday.

Refusing to follow the script on an important occasion for their opposition, Celta Vigo drew first blood as Santi Mina handed them the lead just four minutes after kick-off.

Real Madrid had to respond for they were playing at their new and improved home after 560 days – and they did. It was none other than their talisman Karim Benzema who found the equalizer with a superb volleyed strike.

The home side were stunned again as they found themselves trailing for a second time on the evening right after the half-hour mark when Franco Cervi put the ball into an empty net on his second attempt after he had hit the post on his first attempt.

Showing great fighting spirit, Carlo Ancelotti’s men equalized within seconds into the second half, with Benzema yet again the man to get his team back into the game.

It was all Real Madrid thereafter. Vinicius Junior turned the match around with a composed finish after a darting run while substitute Eduardo Camavinga increased his new side’s advantage on his debut before Benzema finally completed his hat-trick.
